The HealthChannels Fore the Brave Pro-Am Charity Golf Tournament took place on February 5th at the Lake Nona championship course in Orlando, Florida. The beautiful weather combined with our participants generosity provided an opportunity to serve military veterans, and play a meaningful round of golf.
As a former Army Ranger, our CEO Dr. Michael Murphy is attuned to the unique needs of veterans. Since 2015 we’ve hosted a charity golf tournament and last year we raised over $187,000. Today, as more and more service members return from long deployments, the need for resources to assist the transition to civilian life has grown. As well, many of our fallen heroes are survived by children whose unique circumstances often go unnoticed. This year’s tournament boasted a new name to highlight those who gave the ultimate sacrifice including Sergeant Bradley S. Crose who Dr. Murphy served alongside.
The event was attended by numerous PGA and LPGA pros who helped continue HealthChannels' focus on charitable giving for veterans and their families. A luncheon and auction raised thousands of dollars for four esteemed charities: Army Ranger Lead the Way Fund, Folds of Honor, and Wounded Veterans Relief Fund.
Until next year, our relationship to the game of golf and our commitment to serve veterans continues as pro golfer brand ambassadors represent HealthChannels on tour with our custom-made military inspired golf bags. Last year we launched the “Birdies for Heroes” initiative with LPGA pro Jaye Marie Green. ScribeAmerica team members pledged $1 for every birdie she hit on Sundays, and we matched the donations, raising even more critical funds for veterans.
With your help we know next year’s tournament will be an even greater success, stay tuned!
